1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Curbit mobile app, website, APIs, notifications, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old and legally permitted to use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Curbit only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Curbit is not directed to children under 13.
3. What Curbit does
Curbit is a social screen-time accountability tool. It lets you select apps and schedules on a compatible device, invite trusted people, request time-limited access, respond to requests, and use a limited number of emergency passes. The server relays account and request state; device-local Apple frameworks apply any available app shields.
Curbit is not a parental-control, emergency, or safety service, and it is not medical, mental-health, legal, or professional advice. Do not rely on Curbit where access to an app or device may be needed for safety, health, work, transportation, or an emergency.
4. Accounts
- Provide accurate information and keep it current.
- Keep your credentials and device secure, and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized access.
- You are responsible for activity through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
- One person may act as both a blocker and a reviewer; roles are not exclusive.
5. Trusted people and requests
Only invite people you know and trust. An invite does not create a fiduciary, caregiving, employment, or legal-supervision relationship. Reviewers decide independently whether to approve or deny a request; Curbit does not control or guarantee their response, availability, or judgment. You are responsible for optional request reasons and other content you submit and share.
6. Device permissions and availability
Some features require a compatible Apple device, Screen Time or Family Controls permission, notifications, network access, and current system software. Device protections may be unavailable, delayed, bypassed, interrupted, or changed by operating-system behavior, permissions, connectivity, device settings, software updates, or service outages. You are responsible for confirming the current protection state shown on your device.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- harass, threaten, shame, stalk, impersonate, or coerce another person;
- send deceptive, unwanted, or unlawful invites or content;
- access another person’s account or device without permission;
- interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass the Service’s security or access controls;
- reverse engineer or copy the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- use Curbit for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.
We may investigate abuse and remove content, relationships, or accounts when reasonably necessary to protect users or the Service.
8. Beta service and changes
Curbit may be offered as a beta or pre-release service. Features may be incomplete, change, or stop working. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may set reasonable limits on use. Where required, we will provide notice of material changes.
9. License and ownership
Subject to these Terms, Curbit grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Curbit and its licensors own the Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and content, except for content you submit.
For an app obtained through Apple’s App Store, the app license is also subject to Apple’s Standard EULA, unless a valid custom EULA is provided. If these Terms conflict with mandatory App Store terms, those mandatory terms control for the app license.
10. Your content and feedback
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Curbit a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. If you send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party platforms and services, including Apple, Expo, and hosting providers. Their terms and privacy practices may apply to your use of their services. Curbit is not responsible for third-party services outside our control.
12. Termination
You may stop using Curbit or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a material or repeated violation of these Terms, unlawful or abusive conduct, security risk, or where required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive—such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits of liability—will survive.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Curbit is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, that an app will always be shielded or unlocked at a particular time, or that another person will respond. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Curbit and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the Service. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Curbit in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
15. Applicable law and disputes
Applicable law governs these Terms without limiting mandatory consumer protections available where you live. Before filing a formal claim, please contact support@curbit.app so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using a small claims process where available.
16. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms and will post the revised version with a new date. Material changes apply prospectively, with additional notice when required. Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@curbit.app.
